DISNEY CHANNEL GAME ONLINE

Aren’t search engines fun? I know you think so. Everyone does. Why else would google (verb—to search for information on the Internet) have been added to the dictionary?

Finding what you are looking for doesn’t have to be a dull experience. Take the Disney Channel Game Finder, for instance. The Game Finder, available at http://disney.go.com/disneychannel/games, allows your child to sort through almost a hundred online games. The service and the games are completely free! The Game Finder has a unique, animated interface which is like a game in itself. Let’s take a tour of the Disney Channel Game Finder. There are a lot of cool features, and you don’t want to miss out on showing your kids any of them!

The first thing you will notice is a colorful 3-D display. It looks like a television with bubbles bouncing around inside. In the bottom right corner of the display, you can click on the word “more” to view all the different themes that you can apply to the Game Finder. The two outer colors will be applied to the “skin,” while the interior design will become the 3-D background.

To the left of the theme options, you will see the featured online games. The cool part about this bonus feature is the box marked “send shout out.” Your child can enter his or her name, age and state, along with a comment. Every comment has a chance of being aired on the Disney Channel!

Above the featured games, you will see a row of Disney Channel characters. By clicking on the characters, you can sort out the Kim Possible games, for example. Notice that there are arrows at each end of the row of characters, so keep scrolling until you find the show you are looking for. Below the characters is a list of even more ways you can filter your games. You can sort out the puzzles, activities, top ten, and so on. Make sure the descriptor lights up in gold before you click on it, otherwise you may accidentally change the show you are looking for. By matching your selections from these two rows, you can find the perfect game. If you want to check out everything the Disney Channel has to offer, just click on “all shows” and “all games.” Only five games can be displayed at a time, so make sure you scroll through them by clicking on “more games,” in the white banner at the top of the skin. Once you have narrowed down your search, you have to “catch” the bubbles to see what the games are about. Just run your cursor over a bubble to freeze it. You will see that the screenshots inside the bubbles become animated when they stop bouncing around, and you can get a good preview of the game. Now, you can choose to either play your game online or get more info about it first. See more than one game that appeals to you? Just click on the game and drag it to one of the empty circles in the lower right corner. There you can manage your favorite ten games. You can change them out by dragging them to the little trash can on the right side.

Are all those bouncing bubbles too much for you? You can view them as a list as well. Just select your search criteria and click on “view as list” at the top of the skin. Run your cursor over each game title to see a screen shot and a short summary of the game’s objective.

Enjoy playing with the Disney Channel’s inspired Game Finder. And have fun playing those games!
