KIM POSSIBLE GAME AT DISNEY
I have a guilty secret. I’ve been seeing someone. Pretty regularly. Every day, just about. My husband doesn’t know about it. I do it while he’s still at work. My kids know, but luckily they haven’t told their dad yet—I can’t imagine how he would react if he found out. I wake up every morning and I think, “I am over it. I am not going to see her today.” Yes…her. But the kids are becoming pretty attached now, and who I am to tell them no? So every afternoon, when my daughters get home from school, we hang out with Kim Possible.
I am so ashamed of myself. I know it’s a cartoon, but I can’t stop watching. I can’t help feeling excited that my daughters are seeing on television a strong female character instead of the usual bubbly best friend type character. Kim Possible is a perfect student, a cheerleader, and a super agent—as well-rounded as you can get. Her mantra is, “I can do anything.” I want my girls to believe that they can do anything, too.
My favorite Disney show is not just on television. My daughters and I explore Kim Possible’s world through the Disney Channel’s website. If you have never seen the show before, you might want to start out by checking out the characters. You get to read a short bio for each character while you watch a clip from the show. Once you have met the cast you can get to the fun part—the games.
The Disney Channel website currently has thirteen Kim Possible-themed games. Some of the games are better for younger children. For example, “Card Clash” is a virtual version of the card game War. Younger children can practice their numbers by recognizing which card is the higher card. Older players will enjoy “A Sitch in Time.” This game is similar to the original Super Mario Brothers in that Kim Possible must make her way through a 2-D animated world, interacting with objects while avoiding villains.
Maybe I can wean myself off the show. I’ll just take a peek at the website every once in a while; maybe play a game or two. Uh oh, I hear someone coming…. I will see you later at www.disneychannel.com.
